How do you keep your curls healthy and radiant?

Hoe hou jij je krullen gezond en stralend?

Natural hair is beautiful, versatile and unique. However, it also requires special care to stay healthy and shiny. In this blog we discuss the best care routines and tips to optimally care for your natural hair.

1. Know your hair type:
The first thing you need to do is get to know your hair type. Natural hair is often divided into four categories: type 1 (straight), type 2 (wavy), type 3 (curly) and type 4 (frizzy). Every hair type has specific needs. Knowing your hair type will help you determine which products and techniques will work best for your hair.

2. Moisture is the key:
Natural hair can dry out quickly, especially frizzy hair which is often naturally dry. Use moisturizing products like leave-in conditioners, oils (such as coconut or jojoba oil) and shea butter to keep your hair hydrated. Don't forget to do a deep conditioning treatment weekly to nourish your hair from within.

3. Avoid heat:
Heat tools like straighteners and blow dryers can seriously damage your hair. Try to avoid heat as much as possible or use a heat protectant product if you do need to use styling tools.

4. Detangle gently:
Natural hair can tangle easily, so be careful when detangling. Use a wide-toothed comb or your fingers to gently run through your hair, preferably when wet and with a conditioner to minimize breakage.

5. Satin for protection:
A satin pillowcase or scarf protects your hair from friction and dryness at night, reducing the chance of split ends and frizz. More about this in the next blog!

In short
Caring for natural hair requires patience and attention, but with the right routine and products you can keep your hair healthy and radiant. Keep experimenting to find what works best for your unique hair texture!
